Photographing Wild Horses

Photographing wild horses can be an amazing experience—the subject matter is compelling, beautiful and often unpredictable.  You don’t need to be an accredited professional photographer to take on such a feat, but you do need to make sure you’ve got a few important facts in your knowledge toolbox.  If you’re close to an area where wild horses roam or are planning a travel adventure to a particular location for this [...]

What the eye doth not see

Og-What the eye doth not see. We walk past things every moment of our lives but we do not see them. We glance at things and think we notice them, but we never truly see them and their detail escapes us. Have you ever look at a flower and really looked into it. Did you notice the inner parts of the flower? Did you see the stamen, the pollen, the [...]

Captivating Candids

by Laura Oles, author of Digital Photography for Busy Women Few things spark the imagination like the holiday season. Families coming together from across the country—or even across the ocean—to connect and celebrate is an event that needs to be remembered in photos for years to come. Taking great candid shots is a bit like being a sports referee—you’re doing your job well when people don’t even realize you’re there. [...]

Why that three-year extended warranty might be worth it…

I did a search today on warranties and this was one of the results. Oddly enough, our printer warranties do not cover impact or excessive force but we had to share this with the world because this is cute and funny. It makes everyone laugh every time. However we do have a Diamond Service Contract (warranty) which covers impacts!

Cooperative Kids Make Magnificent Photo Moments

by Laura Oles, Digital Photography for Busy Women Children are notorious for being less-than-fully-cooperative when it comes to taking pictures.  As the mother of twin boys, I marvel at how two kids who share the same DNA can still go opposite directions the moment my lens is in view.  My theory is that this is a hidden skill kids learn in kindergarten—‘Picture Avoidance 101’—something taught between snack and recess. With [...]

Stress-Free Scrapbooks:

Digital Photography for Busy Women by Laura Oles I marvel at how much straightening and organizing I need to do at the precise moment I sit down to tackle a tough task. I’ve been on a mission to teach my grade school daughter the importance of tackling the most pressing issue of the day first.  So, if she’s dreading cleaning her room or finishing a particular homework project, I tell [...]
